Hello Colleagues, Friends, Family and other distant relations who have somehow been roped into our Angel to Aztec Charity Cycle Ride!
This
is a bit of a last minute addition and something I haven't yet run by
Mr Angel (or is it Aztec) - Benn Jones, but I'm sure he'll be fine with
it. On this blog you will be able to follow our endeavour over the cycle
from the delectably named 'Angel' Office (The Co-operative Group HQ) in
Manchester to the equally irrelevant-named 'Aztec' West (The
Co-operative Legal Services HQ) in Bristol .
...And
because cycling from Manchester to Bristol is apparently far too easy a
challenge - we will tackle the mounds that are Snowdonia and the Brecon
Beacons en route - despite this not being 'en route' as it is in actual
fact a giant detour. Just as well there are some lovely Welsh pubs
along the way once we've all 'Bonked' - (refer to cycling dictionary).
So, this route will take us 385 kilometres, plus the additional few when we inevitably get lost, climbing over 20,000 feet in a mere 3 days.
For a club-cyclist these stats may not prove too alarming (to a few)
but for your average lay-man or lay-lady it does pose a considerable
physical challenge and will surely be a test of endurance for the riders
and overcoming lay-by boredom for the support crew who are absolutely
essential for this event to go ahead. Having said that, a military grade megaphone was mentioned earlier in the same sentence as a certain Van Driver so I'm sure that'll cause a few laughs!
Before I sign off for today, I just wanted to reiterate that we are undertaking this feat in aid of The Carer's Trust
and any sponsorship is greatly appreciated from those who already have
and will be greatly appreciated from those who haven't quite got around
to it but know that whilst they're sitting on their comfy couch this
weekend in either air-con or the dry, there will be some of us battling
the elements (in Wales these aren't always favourable) and the "comfort"
of a road-bike saddle for up to 30 hrs of that same weekend. Be Generous :)
Much Love!
